Escape…. Take me away!

I asked Daddy’s permission to stay up tonight promising to go to bed when I get tired. 🙂 Permission granted. Thank You, Daddy! ♥

I’m almost an hour into X-Men: The Final Stand. How did I miss this one?! Seriously!!! Fantasy, sci-fi, good versus evil, super hero stuff and if you throw in vampires for good measure, I’m all over that! 🙂 The X-Men films encapsulate so many of those themes that they’re pretty hard to resist. OK, being totally honest? I can’t get enough of Logan! Storm lights my fire a bit, too. lol Shhhh…. don’t tell Daddy!!!! (He already knows…)

My love of sci-fi and fantasy is one of the few true divides in interest Daddy and I have. He likes a little…. more like tolerates it, where I love it. The escape into something totally outside of the norm sets my imagination on fire and draws me in. I indulge in marathons of my fantasy movies and series when Daddy’s off at work.

Admittedly, I do like a good Rom Com now and then. Dramas, too. Given my druthers…. something with a twist. A couple of my favorite series are Once Upon A Time and Penny Dreadful.

I don’t read books much these days. It’s not at about not liking to read. lol Quite the opposite, actually. It’s about not being able to put them down! I get so caught up in the stories and characters that I’ve forgotten to eat, drink, go to the bathroom. One minute it’s morning and the next it’s sunset and I’m still reading. 😉 So, these days I turn mostly to movies and TV. It’s easier to walk away… I’m not as engaged.

I was roaming through a used bookstore downtown nearly 20 years ago and stumbled across one of Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth books. That $2.00 paperback changed my life! lol Great series, by the way! Magic, other worlds, dark and light, BDSM, romance. You name it, this book has a bit of it. One book turned into 13 books in the series!!! I was so taken with the books that I named my last puppy after a favorite character… Gratch. It fit… it all ways. I was sad to see my days of those books come to an end, but I picked up another.

Like so many others in the 1990’s, I read Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles. When my days of Gratch and the Sword of Truth drew to an end, I returned to Anne Rice. I loved her style and vampire books so much that I read all of them. If you’re not aware, there are way more than three!!! She wrote books on every single character keeping me in vampire books for nearly forever. 😉 Memnoch the Devil was the final book I read… and quite possibly my favorite. Yes, I did read one of her erotica novels and it just didn’t appeal to me. Pony play just doesn’t resonate with me. That should tell you which one I read. I can’t remember the title anymore.

These days, you’ll find me curled up with a good fantasy/sci-fi movie on in the back ground as I cook, do housework and blog about my life.

What’s your favorite genre? Tell me about your favorite book or series… or an author who grips you and keeps you enthralled. I can’t wait!

  1. Fun fact: My younger brothers are in X-Men: The Last Stand.

If you watched that movie tonight then you saw them.

A large chunk of that movie was filmed in Victoria, BC –> Where we grew up. We spent a lot of time on the set of that movie. It was a pretty fun time! But that’s a story for another day.

My brothers are in a half-dozen or so scenes.

    Glad you loved the movie!

  2. Favourite book series as a kid was the Belgariad by D Eddings. It has such great characters in it. In later life I enjoyed the books of Michael Marshall Smith. Am a big Sci-Fi fan and comic geek, even to a point of tattoos on my arms
