Daddy and i have a townhouse and we’re crunched between neighbors on both sides. We have front and back patios which are decent sized, but far from large. i love being outside whether it’s hiking in the woods or sipping my morning coffee in the backyard. Getting the backyard space comfortable has been on my to-do list since i first moved in a few years ago. With Daddy’s help, i’m finally on the way!
When the water main burst last summer the workers plopped our kitchen sink, bits of cabinets and the garbage disposal in the yard. We never anticipated it taking so long to get our home put back together. Then depression and overwhelm set in. i finally went out there and started putting the yard back together and turning into an enjoyable part of our home, rather than reminder of the struggles.
Weeding was a job and a half! i just finished the last bit a couple days ago. All the stuff picked up out of the yard. Weeds pulled. Dead gas grill sent off on a big trash pick up along with a few other little things. All of a sudden there’s… SPACE!!!!

We’re starting to spray paint the wrought iron furniture. That’s really a Daddy job. i picked out a rose gold/copper shade of Rustoleum which is quite lovely. New cushions for the chairs are in the works, too.

Can’t really see the pot well, but it’s one my mom painted out of ceramics decades ago. Little bird houses on a rock that say’s Welcome. i planted basil in there. Basil is EVERYWHERE!

There are 6 tomato plants in and around the cages. i planted a handful of green onions from scraps which are starting to grow, as well. On the far end there is a cucumber plant and 4 basil plants.

Adding shade to the yard was a must! As you can see, no trees or anything to break the California summer sun. We ordered a 10′ umbrella which makes it quite comfortable and cools off the house just a tad, as well.

The windchimes aren’t as visible now, but sure can hear them sing.

Everything is growing since my last post about them. Soon i will have color and tall tomato plants filling my garden space.

My latest additions. Armenian Foot Long Cucumbers in the center and Italian Basil on either side.
Headed down to enjoy my first cup of coffee outside with the boys. Ruffi sleeps in the sun and Grumpy chases the bugs. i’ll water my little garden before the sun gets too hot, too.
What a great use of space! It looks like so much fun. I’m glad you took it back.

Nice post. I learn something totally new and challenging on sites I stumbleupon on a daily basis. It’s always exciting to read through articles from other authors and practice a little something from other web sites.
