Matriarch: Film Review

Matriarch popped up in my On Demand list recently. Daddy and I both like horror, so we opted to watch it.

I’m not really sure how to classify this film. Guess the best is to call is a psychological thriller. Thriller is too strong a word, to be honest.

Within the first 10 minutes of the movie I knew pretty much what was going to happen.

A young married couple are travelling through the country and their car breaks down. The woman is pregnant with a short time left delivery. (Key point)

A older fella in a truck asks if they want a ride to help. Asks the gender of the baby, almost like it’s a stipulation for helping. Come to find out… it is!

The man and his wife are crazy!! They have twisted and turned the Bible and Christianity into something more horrible than most of us can imagine. They take in families with young children or pregnant mothers and kill the parents to “adopt” the children into their family.

See where this is going? Not too many more plot twists and turns from their. Aside from the Christian distortion, the story was almost exactly what I predicted at the start of the film.

It’s not the worst horror flick I’ve seen by far. Would I watch it again? Probably not. Do I recommend it? Yeah, I actually do.
